ABOUT ME

Lyudmyla Smolyakova is a classical pianist, songwriter, and composer. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Daugavpils Music College in Latvia in 1980, following her Master of Arts degree in piano pedagogy and performance in 1984 from Minsk State Teacher’s Training University.
Lyudmyla began playing the piano at the age of 6, under the guidance of her grandmother, a talented pianist and actress. This early influence sparked her love for composing, leading her to write her first piano pieces, Song and Waltz, dedicated to her parents and grandmother. Continuing the family’s musical tradition, her daughter Irina is also an accomplished pianist and accompanist, holding a Master’s degree in piano.
Throughout her career, Lyudmyla has recorded four albums: three song albums (Snow Maiden, recorded in the U.S., and If to Believe and Waves, recorded in Moscow) and a piano solo album, The Wings of Love, recorded in California in 2014. Her work showcases her versatility as both a pianist and a composer.
With over 25 years of teaching experience, Lyudmyla offers lessons in a wide range of styles, from classical to popular music. Whether it’s pieces by Bach and Beethoven or contemporary songs, she helps students discover the joys of music and piano study.
